Welcome to the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP web site at QUT. The Cisco Networking Academy™ Program is a comprehensive e-learning program, which provides students with the Internet technology skills essential in a global economy. The Networking Academy program delivers Web-based content, online assessment, student performance tracking, hands-on labs, instructor training and support, and preparation for industry-standard certifications.

'The two fundamental equalisers in the global economy are the Internet and education. The Internet is creating unprecedented opportunities for businesses, individuals and governments and the winners will be those with the right skills and knowledge to compete.'

John Chambers, President and CEO, Cisco Systems

The Cisco Networking Academy Program brings together key stakeholders to create an education ecosystem that makes this vision a reality.

Launched in 1997, the Program began in the USA and is now the largest e-learning laboratory in the world. The number of Academies and students just keeps increasing. Small isolated settlements now join hands with fellow students worlds away to share knowledge, education and be part of the e-learning community.

The Program helps to develop the resources of the Asia Pacific where industry demand for skilled IT professionals with critical networking knowledge is particularly acute. Despite varying access to technology, countries throughout the region are fully engaged.

The Cisco Networking Academy program embraces the spirit of learning in the new economy. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Students gain access to:

  • multi-media web-based delivery that supports student-centered learning
  • hands-on training that develops problem solving skills
  • industrial attachments for real world opportunities
  • world-wide recognized industry-standard certification
  • scholarships in maths, science and other technical fields
  • exciting careers in IT and the Internet

The Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) has been operating at QUT for the past three years. The Sponsored Curriculum Program was adopted in November 2001. Working in partnership with Cisco Systems Inc, the school of Software Engineering and Data Communications has trained over twenty of its internal staff to deliver a range of practical, laboratory-based courses. The CNAP has been offered to students as a complement to their major in data communications.

The CISCO Networking Academy at QUT is offering CCNA exploration course at present, but we will be offering more CISCO courses such as:

  • CCNP (CISCO Certified Network Professionals)
  • CISCO Network Security
  • CISCO Wireless LAN
